Clear, Accomplishable, and Full of Hope Sometimes it feels hard to see positive futures for our youth in a hectic, ever changing world, but this book lays out clear and accessible ways of ensuring everyone has a chance to succeed and contribute. After reading it myself we bought several more copies for our community because the value and hope it brought is incredibly impactful.

A smart read! This book comes along at just the right time . . . as parents, educators, workforce leaders and politicians finally acknowledge without any doubt that introducing people to careers once they're ALREADY paying tens of thousands of dollars in college or trade school tuition is probably too late.Because there's an old adage that's still true: we covet what we see. And if you are lucky enough to discover in high school, middle school, or, even better, in elementary school, the career that really makes you tick, you're going to have a greater sense of purpose in the classroom and a vision, however primitive, from an early age of what your life can be.The evidence for all of this is laid out beautifully in this book of real-life examples of student experiences and outcomes and bottom-line benefits for employers who make meaningful connections to educators because they know they're going to pay off in short- and long-term benefits for their bottom lines and for the strength of their communities. It's an easy, smart read that should be included in the syllabi of everyone preparing for a career in high school or college counseling, and also for workforce reps who understand that partnering with schools is more than a "CSR" strategy.Simply put, it's a road map for guiding students toward the lives they were meant to live, and a proven strategy for economic success for employers and communities alike.

A Bold, Buildable Vision for American Education "America’s Next Dream" challenges us to stop asking students to fit an educational system designed for another century. Instead, Drs. Dalton and McNulty ask us to build a system that recognizes the inherent worth, strengths, interests, and potential of every young person.Dalton’s work connects students with mentors, trusted guides, real-world learning, and networks that expand opportunity. McNulty brings the systems perspective needed to sustain and extend those connections. Each is a formidable thinker in his own right, but this book carries the energy of years spent questioning, testing, and delighting in ideas together. You can feel that this is both their life’s work and a source of genuine intellectual joy—producing something larger than either could create alone.Their vision is grounded in genuine respect for students as individual human beings and learners. That same openness shapes their relationships with students and educators: they learn from people as well as work alongside them. The result is an expansive, whole-system view of education that remains deeply personal and human. This is not another program or temporary initiative. It is a call for fundamental infrastructure redesign. Drs. Dalton and McNulty write with the freedom, imagination, and courage our current moment demands, showing us that meaningful change is genuinely buildable.I received a complimentary copy of the book and was not compensated for this review. I offer this assessment after decades in education as a mentoring practitioner, researcher, school administrator, and systems leader. My doctoral work grew from mentoring programs I helped build, and I am honored to be acknowledged in this book for supporting one of its chapters. I know both authors, and I know their ideas are grounded in experience, deep conviction, and lives devoted to young people. They have shown us what is possible and illuminated the path forward. Now it is our turn to demonstrate the same courage we ask of young people: to step beyond what is familiar and build what comes next.

A ground-breaking tool I was a college counselor for over forty years and I only wish there had been a similar kind of template during those days. This book is visionary, practical, and relevant, and it should be invaluable to students, parents, and educators alike.
