The team falls apart if everyone is not doing what is needed, and your teammates’ support allows you to thrive in everything you do.
TEAMWORK: KATIE O’HARA
Katie is a teacher at Grover Cleveland High School in Queens, New York.
Since the first grade, I have been on a team sport. I’ve played softball, done baton twirling on a national team, fenced for my college team, and took up dragon boat (like competitive canoeing) after college graduation. Therefore, being a team player comes naturally to me. Being on a team has also taught me to value hard work, discipline, and make lifelong friends. I’ve set short and long term goals while being on these teams, and became a leader among my teammates. The team falls apart if everyone is not doing what is needed, and your teammates’ support allows you to thrive in everything you do. The essential skills have shaped me to be someone I can be proud of, and they continue to aid me in my teaching.
