Lake Charles, LA – On Saturday, December 16th, 100 Community Leaders and 100 Washington-Marion Scholars showed up ready to learn together through community mentorship at the “100 for 100 – The 6th Day” event. Community members and scholars were paired up and assigned “class schedules” for the day to engage in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies lessons taught by several Washington-Marion teachers. Participants were able to not only learn from the teachers, but from each other as well. Community members were able to experience first-hand how teaching and learning has evolved as they got an inside-look into the current learning environment and academic progression of the school. Scholars were able to engage in rich conversations with their Community Mentor as the local leaders shared wisdom based on their academic and career experiences.
