Even the best Leaders within organizations of all types sometimes face obstacles and circumstances beyond their control.

Even the best Leaders within organizations of all types sometimes face obstacles and circumstances beyond their control, ultimately resulting in a need to “move in a new direction” for the good of both the leader and the organization.
I experienced this very situation and identify both grit and adaptability as key factors in my continued success.
When I departed Boston University after 15 successful years, I had a choice to bemoan my circumstance or to tap the skills and strengths I had acquired across my career to start anew. I dug deep, tapped friends for advice, connected with influencers from a wide variety of successful companies, and turned my misfortune into a new company focused on my core strengths in relationship building and strategic planning. My firm, ML Consulting, was the product of adapting to the changing circumstances presented to me and using my strengths to meet demands of a new market seeking fundraising and strategic sports advice.
Today I lead the athletic department and the fundraising efforts for Babson College, a prestigious private business college in the Boston area. I also continue to operate my consulting practice, providing advice and counsel to sports professionals across the country.
