Natacha is a junior at Grover Cleveland High School in Queens, New York and recently participated in College Explore, a CFES program that brings students to college campuses for a residential experience that develops college and career readiness.
These Essential Skills, especially teamwork, grit and agility, have helped me in a huge way. Teamwork helped me meet new people and become one of those students who can work with anyone. Grit was one of the most important because it helped me to overcome my shyness.
I saw my experience at the CFES College Explore at St. Michael’s College (Vermont) as the beginning of me being more extroverted and becoming the kind student who motivates others. Agility really impressed and surprised me because I did not know I could get used to completely different environments so easily. Honestly, I was afraid of feeling uncomfortable in that new environment at St. Michael’s, but it was the total opposite. I got used to it at the speed of light and I’m so glad because that means I could get used to other environments easily, like if I choose to study abroad during college. To be able to develop these skills thanks to CFES is amazing. Through College Explore, I feel more than ready to go to college.
